The HR Game Changer Blog

Get a game changer as a mentor

Now I’m moving out of HR in the next few months (you can read my blog about this by clicking here), I’m putting together a ‘to do’ list of things to get done (which is generally what you do with a to do list).

One of those is to help hook up younger or newer HR people with a mentor from the HR Game Changer community.

Are you in your first few years of HR and are looking for an HR mentor who is inspiring, who gets what transformative and game changing HR is all about and can help you be the type of HR person who will change our profession in the future? If so, we might be able to help!

There will be no formal guidelines that you’ll need to follow. The concept of mentoring is for the mentor to share their experience and wisdom, but also question, challenge, coach and support a mentee through their journey to find out things like:

  • what types of roles fit who you are and give the right experience
  • what industries or companies could be useful longer term for your career
  • how can you develop the skills you need in the role you’re in now
  • what ideas can you use to overcome challenges that you’re facing
  • what type of HR person are your currently and what do you want to be?
  • What could you do to take the next step on your journey?

If those are the types of questions you’d like help with – then please get in touch with me at angela@elephanthr.co.nz and I’ll see if I can put you in touch with one of the awesome HR people out there that I’ve met through the HRGC community.

And if you’ve got an hour or two free and are happy to be a mentor, please let me know!

I was lucky enough to have an HR Game Changer mentor me before we even started talking about the HRGC. She helped shape the HR person that I am. And then years later I managed to convince her to come and work with me! Lisa Hunter, you changed my HR game. And I’d love to see that happen for others too.
